The 24th World Volunteer Conference of the International Association For Volunteer Effort (IAVE) concluded and was combined with the 20th Annual Meeting of the Mexican Center for Philanthropy. In the voice of several of the attendees it was confirmed that it was a complete success and that they were 3 important days to talk, reflect, envision actions and establish links of collaboration between the different volunteers. A program was carried out that included plenary sessions, keynote conferences, workshops, work tables and recognition of people and volunteer programs. Among the highlights of this conference and why not also say this of this international festival, the following facts can be noted: Almost a thousand people attended the event (991 people, from 55 countries). International visitors and national volunteers were able to participate in “field volunteering” activities that were organized with the support of companies and civil society organizations such as: “Hair Donation and oncological wig making workshop”, by the Ladies Volunteers from ABC Medical Center; “Recovery of public spaces like the Bosque de Chapultepec”, organized by Voluntarios Modelo; “Delivery of medical packages to patients and views of areas and services”, organized by the Hospital de México Dr. Eduardo Liceaga; “Regenerative agriculture and vegetable processing”, organized by Huerto Romita; Visit to the Museum of Popular Art and knowledge of its volunteer program and also “Introduction to Volunteering in Emergencies”, an activity organized by the Mexican Red Cross. On the morning of Tuesday the 8th, various workshops were held and then the opening ceremony took place where the Head of the Ministry of Social Development, Luis Miranda Naa, participated, representing the President of the Republic.

In this 2016 edition, it was awarded to Bank of America in the “Inspiring Practices” category. Likewise, the Water Program developed by HSBC and SAP was recognized. To for hosting the meeting and recognized two volunteers from said association for their contribution and support they have given for years. Kathleen Dennis, Executive Director of IAVE, one of the people responsible for the organization, thanked the Mexican Center for Philanthropy and the Mexican Volunteer Alliance for having collaborated and made this event possible.
