Thats because your new chip is PC3200. And your old chip is PC2700. New Chip is 400mhz front side bus. Old chip = 333 front side bus. Now some of th new chip will be backwards compatable Meaning they will step down to the lower speed. However this make the ram unstable and could cause crashes. The only chips that I know that are backwards compatable are PNY, and Kingston. A lot of the Off brands like the one you bought are NOT backwards compatable. Lol Eric next time you buy ram make sure all the numbers match.

Lol I hate to do this to you again.... BUT if your motherboard uses PC2700 ram then there is a good possibilty that your mother Board wont accept any AGP card above 256 mbs. You might wanna check you mother board specs before you open the video card box.

what hes saying eric isnt that it wont work, its that you spent extra money for a 512 mb card when its not going to pull over 256 mbs, when you could have spent half the price on one that was only 256.

Lol I still find it kind of odd that your mother Board has a PCIexpress slot, and is still using the outdated style of ram like PC2700... Check your MoBo specs and make sure. you just might have DDR2 ram and Not just DDR. If you have DDR2 then that is the reason why the ram you got realy wont work. Lol Eric I am surprised that you missed that or didn't do research on your board before you bought the ram. It's really not like you to make an over sight like that .
